Lew Carlson

A fitness expert with experience as a strength training athlete, runner, mountaineer, teacher, soccer and basketball coach and Certified Personal Trainer. Over 30 years experience conducting training programs for physical fitness, and sales of exercise and fitness equipment. Lew has climbed worldwide and reached the summit of Mt. Rainier 10 years in a row. A past personal trainer at Gold’s Gym, and currently, as a fitness instructor for an upscale retirement community chain, he conducts a variety of classes including; Water Works, Strength For Life, Senior Stretch, Balance & Stability, Circuit Training and Hand Strength. He has a passion for helping people enhance their performance and potential, an extroverted and intuitive teaching style with a reputation for creating humorous and winning training environments.

Since 1972 Dan Henderson has been immersed in a paddling adventure that has taken him to many parts of the world, allowed him to develop skills and share the joy of paddling with others. As instructor, guide, author, lecturer, athlete, coach, student of exercise science, National Team Coach, World Championship U.S. Team Leader and President of Cascade Canoe & Kayak Centers, Inc. in Renton and Bellevue, Dan continues to find ways to explore his passion for paddling, share that joy, and goof around in little boats!

Pickleball
Barney and Fran have both been playing pickleball for over 20 years. Together they are owners of Pickleball Stuff, an Internet based business selling pickleball equipment and supplies for seven years. Both Barney and Fran have been active with USAPA (USA Pickleball Association). Together, they have competed and officiated in Tournaments in Washington, Oregan, Utah, Arizona and New York.

Joyce has competed in Senior Badminton for 27 years. She won a large number of local tournaments and 245 National, International and World titles. She has been director of badminton for 30 years. She and her husband, Don, ran a juniors program, coaching juniors for 20 years.

Gennadily Shpreyregin is a former National Russian Table Tennis Champion. This five-time republic champion and national champion of Russia was also a table tennis coach for 25 years, producing several champion players .

Table Tennis
Norm Ward has been active in senior games for the last five years as a member of USATT and a board member of the NWSG and WSSG, and has taught youth classes at Meadowbrook Community Center and senior classes at the Everett Senior Activity Center. Norm is also Table Tennis Commissioner for the Port Angeles Senior Games.

Linda Carlson
New to Competition Table Tennis
Linda has been an avid ping pong player since age 11.When she retired in July 2006; she discovered table tennis and quickly learned that it was truly a sport, and, not just a game. Recognizing that she had a lot to learn, she took a series of lessons from Yiyong Fan. She went on to win a Silver Medal, a Gold Medal, and, a Bronze Medal, at the 2006 Port Angeles Senior Games, 2007 NWSG, and the 2007 Washington Senior Games, respectively. Linda was the catalyst for the Table Tennis Program at Everett Senior Activity Center that began May 2007, and is the ESAC Table Tennis Program Event Facilitator.

Ginny is an avid sports participant. She plays tennis competitively, hikes, goes cross country skiing (winter) and does weight training in the gym. She has been playing tennis for 35 years: 4 years Varsity Tennis in college, some tournament tennis, and more recently USTA Team Tennis and Senior Women’s Tennis. She’s very enthusiastic about letting EVERY SENIOR know about the Tennis Event!

Betty McLain
Ballroom Dance
Betty currently teaches ballroom, country western and international fold dancing at the Ballard Elks, Seattle Mountaineers, Renton Senior Center, Seattle Center and on cruise ships, as well as for special events. She leads an active senior dance group that performs and interacts with the audience at the Puyallup Fair, retirement and nursing homes, for senior and intergenerational events. Betty, with her partner, Smitty, has participated in varied dances and festival in their around-the-world backpacking trips.

Roy Lehner

For over 46 years, Roy Lehner has been a park planner, landscape architect, and consultant. He has worked on park projects in Michigan, California, and Washington State. Roy’s expertise includes planning, design, and overseeing construction of parks, ball fields, and trails. Roy has been playing slow pitch softball, in the Northwest, for 40 seasons. He enjoys playing in tournaments all over the west and British Columbia. He enjoys playing softball and has made great friendships and many new friends along the way.
