Flash Inspiration Award

The 2007 Phil Flash Inspiration Award Winner: Mark Friedenberg Mark is a saint for the sport of Pickleball. You could say he has written the book on Pickleball and, in fact, he has, its called “The Official Pickleball Handbook.” Mark is also the President of the USA Pickleball Association through which he has influenced people all over the United States to become more active and have fun. Here are a few of the statements that were submitted with his nomination: “He always has a good attitude toward everyone.” “He is a master of the sport but will help and teach new players with equal enthusiasm.” “He will bring the best out of everyone’s game.” “Even in tough tournament play, he will make his partner and opponents comfortable.” “Mark is an honest example of good sportsmanship for years, my inspiration.”

Nominate your Peer

The "Flash Inspiration Award" is the NWSG Athlete Appreciation Award and will be given to the athlete who best exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship and optimistic attitude over the course of the Games.
Nominees should be an inspiration to stay active and involved in athletics. All NWSG athletes are given an opportunity to

nominate of their peers from any event.
Nominees are role models who positively influence others through their friendly, caring support and encouragement. Their positive attitude in all situations epitomizes success and inspires others to achieve their personal best.

Candidates live healthy, active lives and are dedicated to motivating others to participate in sports, recreation and leisure pursuits of interests. It is their infectious enthusiasm, passion and spirit that motivates others to live healthier, more active lives. The award will be given to the nominee whose actions and commitment to begin or continue living a healthy, active lifehas made an impact on the lives of others. An inspiration to all, the Flash Award recipient motivates fellow athletes to reach their own potential and to actively pursue a healthy lifestyle and well-being.

Prizes Include

A trip from TLC by ®Leisure Care travel program, autographed Sonics memorabilia, a sporting goods gift certificate and a trophy.

Board Review Process

The NWSG Board of Directors will review all nominations and select one athlete from each event to be recognized. The selected athletes are placed in a final round where one will be selected to recieve the 2008 Flash Inspiration Award. Award criteria includes: 1) the total number of votes recieved and 2) the reason why the nimonee deserves the award.

Sport Commissioners Make Nominations

Do you know an athlete who inspires you? Tell your sport commissioner who that is and why they inspire you. Nominations can be submitted in writing, by e-mail or phone your nomination into your commissioner by May 30, 2008. The award will be presented at the Celebration Banquet on Saturday June 7, at the Community Center on Mercer View.
